A LITTLE BIT
Hi, I'm Kathy Kingdon, and I'm passionate about physical and psychological health and wellbeing.
I'm a qualified Personal Trainer and Counsellor. Read more about my qualifications here
I've worked with clients of all ages, from a variety of backgrounds, with a wide range of issues, and understand the importance of being able to talk to somebody empathic and non-judgemental.
I've always enjoyed working out at the gym, and love running - on my own or competing in races. I'm based in Bristol, with many scenic places to run or walk right on my doorstep, or in the beautiful Forest of Dean.
My own experiences showed me that the benefits of exercise weren't just physical - it's how I deal with life's stresses, and I want to help other people experience those benefits.
ABOUT BODY AND MIND COMBINED
The aim of Body and Mind Combined is to guide individuals towards a greater sense of physical and psychological wellbeing. Everybody is unique, with their own strengths and limitations. My method is to build a customised plan based on your health, schedule and fitness goals. To help you achieve your goals, we can talk about any barriers to exercise. I'm here to listen if you feel anxious or stressed, and also offer Walk and Talk sessions, in Bristol and across the Severn Bridge and into the beautiful Forest of Dean. Don't worry if you prefer a gentle stroll to a hike, we walk at your pace. The aim is to enjoy your surroundings, and the opportunity to talk.
Many people find motivation hard, and I can support you with this, and be with you every step of your journey, so that you realise your potential and discover that you can actually enjoy exercising.

"Had an excellent personal training session with Kathy over Skype during my lunch break today. She was efficient, encouraging, and got me working a range of areas in the short 45 minutes that I had available. She has a great knowledge base, and helped me correct my form on several occasions - which is something I really struggle with. Highly recommend for personal training if you want someone who makes you feel comfortable and really listens to what you’re trying to achieve. Thank you!"

MAKING FITNESS FUN
Exercise should be fun! It's not all about repetitive exercises in a gym, it's about doing things that make you happy!
And it's not all about being the best, either - I want to show that age and ability don't have to be a barrier. You might be surprised at what you can achieve when you get the right encouragement.
My aim is to build variety into your routines, improve your fitness levels and your confidence, so that physical activity not only becomes a normal part of your everyday life, but something that enhances your enjoyment of life.
I found it really easy to talk to Kathy about everything that was on my mind, during our Walk and Talk sessions. It surprised me how easy it was to open up to her while we walked. I think being outside with nice scenery helped. Kathy is really empathic, and I felt listened to and understood. It's definitely helped me deal with things that have been going on in my life.

Walking and Talking with Kathy is a rewarding experience, there is no pressure to talk about problems, but just talking helps me to focus on things. Kathy is understanding and non judgmental and has great empathy and a sense of humour, all of which make the session so worthwhile.
I have had regular personal training sessions with Kathy over Messenger this year. She has always thought thru an exercise plan but always checks with me on how I'm feeling and adapts it as necessary. Kathy is always encouraging and gets you working on all of your body to help you on your specific areas of improvement. I really recommend Kathy for personal training if you want someone who is easy to work with, makes you feel comfortable and listens to what you have to say in terms of focus areas and issues.
I met Kathy for a walk and talk this afternoon. It was fab! Chat came easily about all sorts of things and Kathy was great at listening and responding to what I was saying.
It was great to get out in the fresh air and have company on a walk. Really friendly and no pressure to do more than you are comfortable with. Would highly recommend 😊
As someone who struggles to stay on track with exercise, I started having online fitness sessions with Kathy when the UK lockdown was first introduced. The aim was to get myself moving, and to have someone objective to talk to about how the stresses of the situation were affecting my mental health. Through these weekly or twice weekly sessions, I learnt about what my strengths are - that I enjoy to be challenged, and will push myself to take the harder option when Kathy offers me alternatives within a routine. I always come away feeling mentally unburdened, and I couldn’t recommend Kathy’s sessions highly enough. We’re still having our online meet ups and I feel stronger all round from the experience.
Had a good “ walk and talk” session with Kathy. Good for body and spirit! She is very motivating in encouraging you to keep going and at a reasonable pace, without being critical at all. A good listener and able to understand any stress or emotional issues and give either a friendly ear or some practical advice if appropriate. Would definitely recommend her.
Like so many of us in 2020, work and culture shock hit me big time. I found myself furloughed from work for 6 months, desperately missing social contact with colleagues and friends and recognising that my emotional and physical wellbeing was diminishing whilst the extra pounds were increasing!
Luckily for me, a friend told me about Kathy’s Walk and Talk sessions and recommended that I give them a try, and thank goodness I did. Kathy proved to be gentle, caring, astute and down to earth listener/advisor with strong motivational skills – managing also to brighten up my spirits – laughter is a marvellous healer and she proved that true!
The best recommendation I can give is that I am still benefitting from our weekly walk and talks.
I cannot recommend Kathy and her “Body and Mind Combined” sessions highly enough
